Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 is the first installment of the Japanese science fiction franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam, that was released in 1979. It is about a future Japan that has entered into an era of peace after following through with their devastating war many years prior, but is now beset by conflicts once again as armed factions arise to disrupt peace. The government soon learns that terrorists are cloaking themselves in the mobile suits used during the war and uses these new mobile suits to battle against them. At the beginning of the series, the protagonist of the story is Amuro Ray, one of the leaders of Neo-Zeon. One day, he encounters a mysterious man who is labeled as "Number 1", who was known as Kamille Bidan during his days as a soldier. Kamille tells him that Number 1 has been searching for him for a long time. When Amuro tries to leave with Kamille, he instead merges with his mobile suit, RX-78-2 Gundam ∀-01 "Amuro Ray". At this point, he is attacked by the enemy and barely escapes thanks to RX-78-2 Gundam's special abilities. After that incident, he learns that in order to save Kamille Bidan, who was once his closest friend, he must pilot the Gundam. He also discovers that he cannot control the power of the Gundam. Towards the end of the series, Amuro is transported to Earth, which was destroyed in an alternate timeline, and he must fight against Char Aznable during this time. The Mobile Suit Gundam series was adapted into several animated feature films released by Sunrise. All of these films are drawn by various artists who contributed to their respective releases. The film series began with the Mobile Suit Gundam (機動戦士ガンダム, Kidō Senshi Gandaman), distributed by TOHO in 1979 and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino himself, which featured two main characters: Amuro Ray and Char Aznable. The first film featured a group of four pilots, Amuro Ray, Lalah Sune, Bright Noa and Johnny Ridden.[11] The second film features two new main characters: Robert Garcia and Frau Hoffman. The second animated feature film in the series was Mobile Suit Gundam 0079: The Day After (機動戦士ガンダム0079 明日の金環流浪記, Kidō Senshi Gandamu 0079 Asu no Kidōmarūru), released on April 12, 1979.[12] It was directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino once again. cfa1e77820
